"The Governor’s Mansion of South Carolina: 1855-2001", a hardbound edition documenting the 133-year history of the Governor’s Mansion and the major two and one-half year renovation completed in June of 2001, is now available.


Featuring over 100 full color images by professional photographer Robert Clark, the 128-page book was written by noted South Carolina historian Dr. Walter Edgar, John M. Sherrer, III, Director of Collections and Interpretation at Historic Columbia Foundation, and Lynn Robertson, Director of the University of South Carolina’s McKissick Museum. The authors recount renovations through the decades, share stories of the past, and document furnishings throughout the Mansion. The preface of the 128-page book (91/2” X 11 ½”) was written by Rachel Hodges, First Lady, from 1999-2003.
